Odisha Police Initiates Process to Freeze Bank Accounts of Singer Sourin Bhatt

Bhubaneswar: Odisha police on Tuesday initiated the process to freeze the bank accounts of Singer Sourin Bhatt, who is evading police in a harassment case.

According to reports, the Commissionerate police has approached banks to freeze two Kolkata-based bank accounts of the popular singer. Another bank account of the singer in Odisha is also being freezed by the police.

Twin City Commissionerate Police on Monday issued a “lookout circular” against singer Sourin Bhatt in a harassment case.

Despite all attempts, Odisha police have not been able to trace Sourin. A police team could not find him even after conducting searches at three locations in Kolkata.

The Orissa High Court has rejected Sourin’s anticipatory bail plea in the case.

Sourin is accused of harassing a female bank employee of Cuttack. Her statement was earlier recorded by the Magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPC. She has lodged an FIR in this regard at Jagatpur police station. Her case was later referred to Mahila PS in the city.

As per the allegation made by the woman, Sourin was involved in her physical and mental harassment. He had made false promises to marry her and a break in playback singing.

The woman also alleged that Sourin had taken Rs 10 lakh from her. According to her, she and Sourin have been having a love affair for the past several years. Sourin allegedly cheated her.
