Paris Olympics: India’s Rower Balraj Panwar Moves to Repechage After Finishing 4th in Heat

Paris: India’s sole representative in rowing at the Paris Olympics, Balraj Panwar, has qualified for the repechage round after finishing fourth in Heat 1 of the men’s singles scull event on Saturday.

The 25-year-old clocked a time of 7:07.11, finishing behind New Zealand’s Thomas Mackintosh (6:55.92), Stefanos Ntouskos of Greece (7:01.79), and Abdelkhalek Elbanna of Egypt (7:05.06). Only the top three finishers in each heat advance directly to the quarterfinals.

Panwar, who secured a bronze medal at the Asian and Oceanian Olympic Qualification Regatta in Korea and finished fourth at the 2022 Asian Games, will now compete in the repechage with a chance to progress to the semifinals or finals.
