Polling Officer Suspended in UP for Taking Selfies with Voters

Lucknow: A polling officer posted at a booth in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency has been suspended as he was found to be taking selfies with his mobile phone while photographing voters on the day of polling on May 20.

According to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa, the suspended polling officer is Ashish Kumar Arya, an assistant teacher at Girls’ Primary School Umri in Muskara block of Hamirpur district. He was posted as a polling officer in the polling station 112 of Shri Vidya Mandir Inter College in the  Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat.

Action was initiated against him as he through his inappropriate conduct clearly violated the instructions of the Election Commission (EC).

The District Basic Education Officer, Hamirpur, suspended Arya and posted him to Block Resource Centre, Muskara.
