President Murmu Graces “Boita Bandana Utsav” in Paradip to Honour Odisha’s Maritime History

Paradip: President Droupadi Murmu attended the “Boita Bandana Utsav” organized at Odisha’s Paradip Port on the occasion of Kartika Purnima on Monday.

Odisha Governor Raghubar Das and Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu also took part in the celebration to mark the maritime history of Odisha.

President Murmu flagged off a specially decorated boat to remember the sadhavas or Odia maritime traders who ventured into far-off islands in the Pacific Ocean hundreds of years back.

The “Boita Bandana Utsav” in Paradip was organised by the Paradip Port Authority to celebrate Kartika Purnima.

Murmu also boarded the ‘Amogh’ Special Vessel of the Indian Coast Guard in Paradip. She inspected port craft and addressed the fishing community of Paradip.

The President arrived in Bhubaneswar on Sunday evening on a two-day to Odisha. It is her second visit to Odisha this month. During her recent visit, she will virtually inaugurate a Multi Model Logistic Park as well as lay the foundation stones for new reservoir and water treatment plant for Port Township and next-gen vessel traffic management and information system.
