Renowned Labour Union Leader Ghanashyam Jena Passes Away

Bhubaneswar: Noted labour union leader Ghanashyam Jena breathed his last at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar at the age of 93.

His wife Hemalata Jena had passed away a day ago because of a heart attack.

Ghanashyam Jena was a major leader of the trade union movement in the country. He was the founder of All India Food Corporation of India Workers Union, Founder president of Paradip Port & Dock Majdoor Union, All India Food & Allied Workers Union & All India Petroleum Products Handling & Carrier Employees Union.

Jena was also the Founder Chairman of FCI Workers Co-op. Credit Society Ltd. and Ghanashyam Hemalata Vidyamandira Society.

He established the Ghanashyam Hemalata Institute of Technology and Management, in Puri, which was funded by members of labour unions.
