Rishabh Pant Will Lead Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, Confirms DC Owner

New Delhi: Delhi Capitals’ co-owner Parth Jindal on Friday revealed that Rishabh Pant will lead the team in the upcoming 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Pant takes over the captaincy from Australian cricketer David Warner, who stepped in for the 2023 season due to Pant’s injury.

Jindal also confirmed the return of South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje to the DC camp in Vishakhapatnam after a prolonged absence due to injury. Nortje is expected to join the team soon, having regained fitness and gradually increasing his bowling intensity.

Regarding Pant’s role in the team, Jindal mentioned that Pant will focus solely on his batting and captaincy initially, relinquishing wicketkeeping duties for the time being. However, Pant is actively involved in training and expected to be fully fit for the season.

Ahead of the IPL 2024 auctions, DC made a strategic decision to retain Pant, who played ten games in the previous season before taking a break for personal reasons. Additionally, Jindal revealed that English batsman Harry Brook will occupy the No. 6 batting position for the team.

Notably, DC’s schedule for the upcoming season includes two home games in Vishakhapatnam and three away games, as per the recently released IPL schedule.
