Saluga Pradhan of BJD Files Nomination for Deputy Speaker Post of Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: BJD MLA of G.Udaygiri, Saluga Pradhan filed nomination for the post of Odisha Assembly’s Deputy Speaker on Monday. He is all set to be elected to the post uncontested as Opposition parties have not fielded any candidate against him. Moreover, the BJD has clear majority in the Assembly to get him elected without any hiccups.

“BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has nominated me for the post of Deputy Speaker. I will try to conduct the proceedings of the Assembly smoothly by taking the advice of senior members of the House. I will respect the opinions of members of both ruling and opposition parties,” said Pradhan.

The election for Odisha Assembly Deputy Speaker is scheduled to be held on November 21.

The Secretary of the Legislative Assembly has sent a letter to all MLAs regarding this. The polling is scheduled to be held at 9.30 am on November 21.

The position fell vacant after Rajanikant Singh resigned from the post on November 8.
