Selection Meeting for 2 New Election Commissioners at PM’s Residence on Thursday

New Delhi: A selection meeting to fill up two vacant posts of Election Commissioners will be held on Thursday (March 14) at the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The appointments have to be made by Friday (March 15).

These new appointments would be made to fill the vacancies created after the resignation of former Election Commissioner Arun Goel and the retirement of former Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey.

The meeting to select the two new Election Commissioners will take place on Thursday afternoon at the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On March 9, all of a sudden, Goel resigned just weeks before the Election Commission of India is expected to announce the dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

At present, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar is the only member of the poll body.
