Balasore: Six poachers were arrested during a joint combing operation late on Wednesday night in the Kuldiha Sanctuary in Balasore district of Odisha.
A few days back two poachers were arrested from the sanctuary on charges of firing at forest officials on duty in Kuldiha Sanctuary.
The recent arrests were made by a joint team of Kuldiha Wildlife Division, Similipal Tiger Protection Force and Nilagiri Police. Six country made guns and traps used for poaching along with animal trophy were seized from the possession of the six arrested poachers. The accused were rounded up from the periphery of the wildlife sanctuary.
Addressing media persons, Odisha PCCF Sushant Nanda said the drive is ongoing and efforts have been stepped up after the firing incident at forest personnel on duty.

On March 19, two Forest Department personnel were injured when they were fired at by poachers near Panchalingeswar beat in the sanctuary. The incident took place when they were patrolling in the area.
