T20 World Cup 2024, IND vs CAN: Match Abandoned Due to Wet Outfield

Florida: The final Group A match between India and Canada on Saturday was abandoned without a single ball being bowled due to a wet outfield.

Despite multiple outfield inspections and a one-hour delay in the start time, umpires were unable to deem the conditions suitable for play. India, already assured of a Super Eight berth with three wins from their opening matches, remain unbeaten in the tournament.

The United States also progressed from Group A, while Pakistan, Canada, and Ireland were eliminated.

While India’s qualification is confirmed, the focus for fans remains on star batsman Virat Kohli’s lack of runs. Kohli has yet to find his form, scoring only five runs in three matches. The upcoming Super Eight stage presents an opportunity for him to break out of his slump.

The Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup will be played entirely in the West Indies. India will be hoping for a change in fortunes for Kohli and a strong showing as they aim to lift the trophy.
