Top Bureaucrat’s Son Mows Down Girlfriend With His SUV in Thane

Mumbai:  Priya Umendra Singh (26) was seriously injured when  Ashwajit Gaikwad, the son of a top Maharashtra bureaucrat, allegedly mowed her down with his SUV in Thane.

Priya, who is a professional beautician, disclosed the shocking attempt on her life by her lover in a social media post. Her post has an emotional header: “My boyfriend rammed his car over me and left me dying in pain on the street.”

“Need justice…Culprit Ashwajit Anilkumar Gaikwad, son of Anilkumar Gaikwad, Joint Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation,” said Priya on her post.

Priya also named Ashwajit’s friends, Romil Patil, Prasad Patil and Sagar Shelke, as well as her boyfriend’s driver-cum-bodyguard, Shiva.

Singh has tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Smriti Irani and Shiv Sena-UBT’s Aditya Thackeray.

The alleged incident occurred on Ovala Road in the Ghodbunder area of the Thane district. Priya has suffered serious injuries in the stomach, back and arms. Her right leg is broken and in a cast.

On December 11, at around 3 am, Priya was allegedly abused by Ashwajit and his friends in the Courtyard Hotel. According to her, Ashwajit allegedly assaulted her, and then his friends Romil, Prasad and Shelke also attacked her.

When she tried to escape from the spot by taking out her bag and mobile phone from the SUV, the youths allegedly first hit the SUV into her back near a divider and then returned to drive the vehicle over her right leg.

Ashwajit and his friends allegedly threatened the woman not to inform the police claiming that they had much political clout. Priya is in the ICU of Titan Medicity Hospital. Kasarvadavali police have lodged a complaint and have initiated an investigation.
