UP Minister Attacked While Attending Wedding Ceremony

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh minister Sanjay Nishad was allegedly roughed up by some villagers when he visited a village to attend a wedding ceremony in the Khalilabad Kotwali Police Station area of Sant Kabir Nagar to attend a wedding on Sunday night.

According to police sources, Nishad was injured in the attack. The incident occurred late on Sunday night, when Sanjay Nishad reached the wedding venue at Jagannath Nishad’s place. A group of people of the locality argued with the minister and allegedly attacked him. The minister bled from the nose. He was taken to a hospital, where he was given first aid.

Sanjay Nishad is the president of the NISHAD party, a constituent of the ruling NDA in UP.

Police have registered an FIR against six people from the village under sections 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
