Utkal University Students Hold Protest over Hostel Issues

Bhubaneswar: Students at the Utkal University of Vani Vihar in Bhubaneswar staged a protest demonstration on Monday over issues related to the hostels.

The PG first and second-year students took part in this demonstration in front of the PG Council Office.

The protestors alleged delay in the allotment of hostel rooms to new students. Although the first-year classes started from August 21, students have not been allotted hostel rooms yet.  The agitating students met the PG Council Chairman and Superintendent. They were assured that hostel rooms will be allotted in the next two to three days.

The authorities also assured to ensure that second-year students get single rooms, which was also a demand of agitating students.

The agitating students also took up other issues like drinking water and other basic amenities at hostels with the concerned superintendents.
