Veteran lawyer & Legal Doyen Fali S Nariman Passes Away at 95

New Delhi: Eminent jurist and veteran senior advocate of Supreme Court Fali Nariman breathed his last on Wednesday at the age of 95. He passed away at his Delhi home.

This noted legal expert was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Padma Vibhusham in 2007.

Fali Nariman started his legal profession in the Bombay High Court and later moved to Delhi. He was appointed the Solicitor General of India in 1972. Protesting the declaration of emergency by the then PM Indira Gandhi, he resigned from the post in 1975.

He was the President of the Bar Association from 1991 to 2010.

Fali Nariman argued in several landmark cases, including the National Judicial Appointments Commission case, which was struck down by the Supreme Court.
