Wall Collapse Kills 9 Children in Madhya Pradesh, CM Orders Removal of Collector, SP, SDM

Bhopal: Nine children died and two others were injured when the wall of a dilapidated house collapsed on them in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district on Sunday morning.

The mishap occurred near a temple during a religious function at the Shahpur village of Rehli Assembly constituency. The deceased were aged 10 to 15 years.

A programme of “Parthiv Shivling Nirman” (making Shivling out of clay) was going on under a tent near the dilapidated house. One of its walls collapsed and fell on the tent.

Two children died on the spot, while seven others succumbed on the way to hospital or on reaching the medical facility.

Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav ordered the removal of Sagar collector, SP and Rahli SDM after the mishap. The CM also suspended the chief municipal officer of Shahpur Nagar Panchayat and a sub-engineer.

CM Yadav expressed grief over the incident and announced assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the kin of each of the deceased.

On Saturday, in another wall collapse incident in Madhya Pradesh, four kids died in the Rewa district.
