Watch: Chandrayaan 3 Sends First Images of Moon

New Delhi: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) released the first images of the moon captured by Chandrayaan 3.

The photographs taken by this third unmanned lunar mission of India showed the cratered surface of the moon. Chandrayan-3 entered the lunar orbit on Saturday, after a journey of 22 days.

“The Moon, as viewed by Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft during Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) on August 5, 2023,” tweeted the Mission’s official Twitter handle.

The Vikram lander of Chandrayaan 3 is expected to make a soft landing on the surface of the moon on August 23. Chandrayaan 3 is on a 41-day voyage to the lunar south pole, where no other country has gone before.

The injection into the lunar orbit marked a major milestone in ISRO’s ambitious Rs 600 crore mission.
