Puri Police Blocks 22 Fake Websites Involved in Online Hotel Booking Fraud

Puri: During the past months, the cyber cell of Puri police has blocked at least 22 fake websites involved in online hotel room booking fraud.

Puri police organized a seminar to create awareness regarding online hotel booking fraud and measures to put checks on it.

According to Puri police officials, during the past few months, at least 30 cases of online hotel booking cyber fraud have been reported from Puri. The total loss of victims amounted to Rs 10,23,885.

Timely reporting of cases by the hotel owners resulted in the blocking of at least 22 fake websites. The cyber cell of Puri police is trying to get the victims refunded by tracking down the accounts of the fraudsters.

The police have appealed to the hotel owners and tourists to remain alert with regard to online hotel room booking fraud.
