WhatsApp Releases New Voice Status Updates on Android Beta

San Fransisco: Users will now be able to keep audio notes as status updates thanks to a new feature called ‘voice status updates’ that is purportedly being rolled out for Android beta by the Meta-owned messaging service WhatsApp.

According to WABetaInfo, beta testers can now send audio notes as status updates by accessing the new functionality from the text status area.

The platform also gives consumers more control over their voice recordings by allowing users to delete a recording before sharing it.

However, users must update their WhatsApp version in order to hear voice notes transmitted via status. The maximum recording time for a voice note is 30 seconds.

End-to-end encryption will ensure that only the people users select under their privacy settings may listen to voice notes that are shared as status updates.

Voice notes posted via status will vanish after 24 hours, just like photos and videos.

The new feature will be made available to general users in the upcoming weeks, according to the article.
