Woman Jailed for 40 Yrs for Letting Lover Rape Her 7-Yr-Old Daughter

Thiruvananthapuram: A special fast-track court in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram convicted a woman on Monday and sentenced her to a cumulative prison term of 40 years for allowing her lover to sexually abuse her seven-year-old daughter.

Thiruvananthapuram Fast-Track Special Judge also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the woman.

The victim was sexually abused from March 2018 to September 2019. Shishupalan, the man who raped the girl committed suicide during the trial. So, the victim’s mother was the sole prime accused in this case.

According to the chargesheet filed by the police, the woman was living with Sishupalan after leaving her mentally retarded husband.  Sishupalan was sexually exploiting the child of the woman with her knowledge.

The incident came to the fore when the victim’s grandmother lodged a complaint with the authorities.
