Woman Police IIC Attacked During Raid on Gambling Den in Balasore Dist

Balasore: The woman police inspector-in-charge (IIC) Talasari Marine Police Station Champabati Soren was allegedly attacked and detained by miscreants during a raid on a gambling den at Udaypur village under Balasore’s Bhogarai block on Sunday night.

When IIC Soren reached a shop in Udaypur village as part of a raid to stop gambling activities, the miscreants present at the spot attacked and restrained the police officer in the shop. The driver of the police patrolling vehicle was manhandled when she tried to stop the miscreants from attacking the female cop.

Receiving information about the assault on the IIC and the driver, a police team from Bhogarai Police Station and Chandaneswar Police Outpost rushed to the spot and rescued the Talasari IIC and the police driver.

Police have detained 20 persons in connection to the incident. One platoon of police force was deployed at Udaypur village to check the escalation of tension. Fearing arrest most male members of  Udaypur village have absconded.
