Woman Who Honey Trapped Bangladesh MP for Murder Nabbed

Kolkata: The woman, who is suspected to have “honey trapped” Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim Anwar before he was murdered in Kolkata has been nabbed in Dhaka, reported India Today.

The woman, a Bangladeshi citizen, identified as Shilanti Rahman, is the girlfriend of the prime accused Akhtaruzzaman Shahin, reported India Today quoting Bangladesh police sources.

Akhtaruzzaman is a US citizen. He was a friend of the murdered Awami League MP. The MP was allegedly murdered in Akhtaruzzaman’s rented house in Kolkata’s New Town area.

Shilanti was present in Kolkata when Anwarul was killed, and on May 15, she returned to Dhaka along with the suspected prime accused, Amanullah Aman.

According to sources, Shilanti was used as a honey trap by Akhtaruzzaman to bring Anwarul from Bangladesh to Kolkata.

It is suspected that Akhtaruzzaman got the Bangladesh MP killed due to a dispute over some payments. Akhtaruzzaman is alleged to have paid around Rs 5 crore to those involved in the murder.

The West Bengal Crime Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a suspect, Jihad Hawladar, an illegal Bangladeshi immigrant, from Mumbai.

Hawladar has confessed to killing the Bangladeshi MP along with four others at the New Town flat.

He also claimed that the murder was carried out on the orders of Akhtaruzzaman.

After killing the MP, they skinned the entire body and minced the flesh to destroy the identity of Anwarul, CID sources said.
