World’s 1st Portable Hospital to be Deployed for Ayodhya Ram Temple Consecration

Ayodhya: Medical professionals of AIIMS-New Delhi, AIIMS-Rae Bareli and AIIMS-Gorakhpur will look after the medical emergencies in Ayodhya for a month starting January 22, the day the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony will be held. Information and Broadcasting Secretary Apporva Chandra informed that the government would also deploy indigenously designed BHISHAM (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog, Hita and Maitri), which is the world’s first portable hospital, in Ayodhya to meet any eventuality.

This unique portable hospital has been developed jointly by the Ministries of Health and Defence and the National Security Council.

BHISHAM portable hospital has 72 aid cubes that can be deployed in mass casualty incidents and has the capability to treat up to 200 patients. It comprises an operation theatre, mini ICU, among other things.

BHISHAM was launched in December 2023, and it will be put to use for first time in Ayodhya.
