Death News of Zimbabwe Cricket Legend Heath Steak Found to be Hoax

“Zimbabwe cricket legend Heath Streak breathed his last at 49. He was suffering from cancer”, the news circulating on social media was found to be fake news. Steaks himself rubbished the misinformation through a social media post.

Streak is accepted as one of Zimbabwe’s greatest cricketers. He captained the country between 2000 and 2004.

In his career of 12 years, he played 65 Test matches and 189 ODIs for Zimbabwe. He is the only cricketer from Zimbabwe to take 100 Test wickets.

Streak’s career began in 1993 with his debut against Pakistan, where he swiftly established himself by taking eight wickets in his second Test in Rawalpindi. He opted for retirement in 2005 after his stint as captain of Warwickshire. In 2007, he signed up for the Indian Cricket League (ICL), marking the end of his international cricket journey.
