ZPM All Set to Win Mizoram Assembly Polls

Aizwal: The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) is poised for a landslide victory over the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) in the Assembly Elections.

As per early results, the ZPM is leading in 29 seats, while the ruling MNF trails by leading in only seven seats.

The BJP is leading in three, whereas the Congress is currently leading in just one seat.

At 74 years old, Lalduhoma, a former IPS officer, and the leader of ZPM, has won from the Serchhip seat and has expressed intentions to meet the governor to stake claim for government formation. Current CM Zoramthanga is trailing in his Aizawl East seat.

As an IPS officer, Lalduhoma served in Goa before overseeing the security of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in Delhi. He entered politics by contesting the Lok Sabha polls in 1984 under ZPM.

Lalduhoma has affirmed that the party will form the government independently, without forming post-poll alliances with national parties.
