AI May Replace Journalists! ChatGPT, Google Explore AI Use in Journalism

The profession of journalists is at stake as the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being experimented in the field of journalism. ChatGPT and Google are offering artificial intelligence tools that can write news articles to media houses.

The New York Times reported that Google has held discussions with the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal-owner News Corporation, and even the New York Times, about providing AI mediums for news writing.

As per reports, in the initial stage the AI journalistic tools are being described as AI tools that can assist journalists with options for headlines or different writing styles to “enhance their work and productivity.”

The AI tool that was pitched for the world of journalism is called Genesis internally at Google, the NYT said, citing people involved with the matter.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press has declared that it would partner with ChatGPT-owner OpenAI to explore the use of generative AI in news. This deal may trigger the start of similar partnerships between AI and news publications.

Some smaller news outlets are already using generative AI for their content on an experimental basis.
