Zomato faces controversy

New Delhi: The food delivery app Zomato has now become a controversy over advertisements. Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain Mahakaleshwar temple worshipers have protested against the Zomato ad by Bollywood actor Hritik Roshan. Hritik says in the ad that he ordered food from Mahakal.

However, Mahakaleshwar temple worshipers have claimed that the word Mahakala used in it hurts Hindu sentiments. The devotees requested Ujjain District Collector Ashish Singh to take strict action against the company. Ashish Singh Mahakala is the chairman of the temple trust. After the ad was protested, the company apologized and said it would be removed immediately. According to the company, the word Mahakal used in the ad is meant to refer to Mahakaal restaurants in the local area. “We do not intend to hurt any religious beliefs,” Zomato said. However, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that the police administration has been ordered to investigate the case.
