200 Rounds Of Blank Firing During Group Clash At Coal Washery In Sundargarh, 10 Detained by Police

Sundargarh: Over 200 rounds were fired in the air and bombs were hurled over rivalry between two groups at Garjanbahal coal washery under the Hemgiri police station limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Thursday night. Police have detained 10 persons in connection with the firing and group clash.

According to reports, the warring groups were from Raigarh in Chhattisgarh and Sundargarh. They clashed over ownership of the facility. Six persons were injured in the incident. While some injured were admitted to Raigarh hospital, one was rushed to district headquarters hospital in Sundargarh. The washery was vandalised and several vehicles were damaged during the clash.

“Two youths of Sundargarh injured in the clash have been shifted to a hospital in Raigarh for treatment. A police team from Odisha has reached Chhattisgarh to interrogate the injured. An investigation is underway and necessary action will be taken,” said SDPO Himanshu Bhusan Behera to the media.
