7 Indian-Origin Men Convicted of Violence During Kabaddi Match in UK

Seven Indian-origin men aged between 24 and 36 were convicted for their involvement in violence involving guns and machetes at a kabaddi tournament in Derby, in the East Midlands region of England.

Several people were injured during this violence that erupted because of a clash between two groups at the kabaddi tournament at Alvaston on August 20, 2023.

Five of the arrested persons pleaded guilty, while two others were convicted of violent disorder and possession of a firearm by a jury last week. All of them will be sentenced at Derby Crown Court at a later date.

According to police sources, shots were fired and people fought with sharp weapons during this violence. Investigation revealed that the fight was pre-planned.
