Drunk Car Driver Mows Down Maharashtra College Professor

Mumbai: A 25-year-old man was arrested by the police in Maharashtra’s Palghar district for causing the death of a college professor while driving a car in an inebriated state on Thursday evening.

The deceased, Professor Atmaja Kasat (45) was walking home after college duty when she was run over by a car within the limits of Arnala Sagri police station at around 6.30 pm on Thursday.

Seriously injured Kasat succumbed to her injuries after a few hours in a hospital.

A medical test of the car driver, Shubham Pratap Patil, proved that he was drunk at the time of the accident. He was arrested under the Bharatiya Nayaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act.
