Leopard Hide, Python Skin Seized in Kalahandi Dist, 6 Arrested

Bhawanipatna: Six persons were arrested following the seizure of a leopard hide and a python skin by forest officials in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Wednesday.

It was an inter-state joint raid by officials from Kalahandi South Forest Division and Udanti-Sitanadi Tiger Reserve of Chhattisgarh in Amapani Ghati of Kalahandi district.

There were intelligence reports about some persons trying to sell the leopard hide. The joint raid led to the seizure of the leopard hide as well as other wild animal body parts.

Acting on the information extracted from the arrested persons the Forest officials also raided the house of a poacher Rishi Majhi at Chancharaguda village under Jaypatna forest range. A python skin, a country-made gun and animal hunting materials were seized from his house. He was also arrested.
