Man Beats Parents to Death for Stopping Him from Consuming Liquor in Punjab

Amritsar: An elderly couple was beaten to death by their 35-year-old son when they tried to stop him from consuming liquor, in Pandher Kalan village, in Amritsar district of Punjab, on Wednesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Gurmeet Singh, 65, and Kulwinder Kaur, 63. Their son Pritpal Singh bludgeoned them with an iron rod.

Pritpal Singh was arrested under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to police sources, when Pritpal Singh returned home drunk from a marriage function, his father scolded him. Pritpal wanted to go back again to drink more but his parents tried to stop him.

Infuriated by his parents’ opposition, Pritpal attacked his parents with an iron rod. While attacking his parents, Pritpal had locked his wife and two children in a room.
