Odia Migrant Worker Kills Woman After Rape Attempt, Arrested in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: An Odia migrant worker was arrested in Bengaluru on charges of attempting to rape a woman and then killing her.

The accused was identified as Krushnachand Sethi, who worked as a security guard. He attempted to rape the 21-year-old victim Mahananda, who worked at a petrol bunk in Laxmisagar.

Her body was found in front of her house on Friday. She lived with her sister who also worked at the same petrol bunk.

The accused was a neighbor of the victim.

On Thursday night, when Mahananda came out of her house for some reason, the accused dragged her into his house and attempted to rape her.

When the victim tried to resist and screamed, Krushnachand closed her mouth with one hand and strangled her with the other. Mahananda died on the spot.

The accused wrapped the body in a bedsheet and in the early morning of Friday he dumped the body in front of her house.

Police investigation led to his arrest. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime.
