Odisha Woman Hacks 1-Month-Old Son to Death, Had Previously Drowned Daughter

Keonjhar: A 35-year-old woman in Odisha’s Keonjhar district has been arrested for allegedly hacking her one-month-old son to death with an axe. The incident took place in Bimala panchayat under Telkoi police limits on Monday morning.

The woman, Laxmi Juang, reportedly smudged sindoor on the baby boy’s head before committing the crime. Her husband, Guru Juang, was resting in their house at the time of the incident.

Local police arrived at the scene and arrested Laxmi. They suspect that she may be suffering from a psychiatric disorder. A scientific team has also examined the spot where the tragedy occurred.

This is not the first time Laxmi has been involved in such a horrifying incident. Approximately four years ago, she was arrested and subsequently jailed for drowning her one-year-old daughter.

The authorities are investigating the matter and trying to unravel the circumstances surrounding the latest incident.
