New Delhi: The Supreme Court has vehemently denounced a misleading social media post attributing false statements to Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, branding it as “fake and mischievous.”
The fabricated post featured an image of the CJI, encouraging citizens to protest against the government. It falsely quoted the CJI as saying, “We are trying our best to save the Constitution of India, the democracy of India. But your cooperation is also very important for this… keep courage and ask the government to account, I am with you.”
The Apex Court’s Public Relations Office (PRO) issued a statement terming the post as “fake, ill-intended, and mischievous.”
The statement clarified that the CJI had not made such remarks, and neither had he authorized any such post. The Supreme Court is taking appropriate action in coordination with law enforcement authorities to address this matter.
