Rape Accused Throws Acid on Minor, Then Drinks Acid to Commit Suicide in Delhi

New Delhi: After coming out of jail on bail, a rape accused named Prem Singh made an acid attack on the 17-year-old daughter of the complainant and then died by suicide in central Delhi on Thursday.

Prem Singh was granted bail by a local court to attend a family wedding.

On Thursday evening he pressed upon the woman who had accused him of rape to withdraw the complaint against him.

When the victim did not agree to withdraw the complaint, he threw acid on her 17-year-old daughter and then drank some himself.

Both Prem Singh and the acid attack victim were rushed to a hospital. Prem Singh died during treatment. But the girl survived.

Prem Singh and the woman were neighbours in Delhi’s Anand Parbat area.
