Rs 2.5 Crore Worth Painting Stolen From Mumbai Warehouse

Mumbai: A painting by famous artist Sayed Haider Raza worth more than Rs 2.5 crore was allegedly stolen from a warehouse in south Mumbai.

The painting, titled Prakriti (Nature) was drawn by the the noted painter in 1992. It was stolen from the AstaGuru Auction House Private Limited’s warehouse. The police have registered an FIR in this connection against unidentified persons.

Raza lived and worked in France for most of his career. He passed away at the age of 94 in 2016 at 94.

The stolen painting was last seen in March 2022, said police officials.

Mumbai police have formed a special team to recover the painting by identifying the thief through CCTV footage.
