Saga of Cheater Bride, Cons 27 Grooms in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: A woman has married and cheated many as 27 grooms in Jammu and Kashmir. She escaped with jewelry and cash from all her victims, leaving them heartbroken.

This racket by the dubious bride came to the fore when the conned grooms reached a police station in the Budgam district of Kashmir. There they found that their beloved wives were a single woman.  They discovered that they had fallen victim to the same cunning woman.

She was mostly demanding around two lakh rupees as Meher, a mandatory payment or gift that the Muslim groom is required to give to the bride as part of the marriage contract. After few weeks of marriage, she was escaping with the cash as well as the jewelry in the name of going to her parent’s home.

It is suspected that a behind the scene racket worked behind this woman’s marriage schemes.

Police have registered a case against her and are investigating. They are trying to track down the woman and her associates.

According to the lawyer of the victims, Abid Zahoor Andrabi, this woman used aliases on marriage documents as Zaheen, Ilayas, and Shaheena. But no one knows her true identity.
