Superstitious Couple Sacrifices Own Baby to Cure Wife’s Illness, Arrested in UP

Lucknow: A couple was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district for allegedly sacrificing their one-month-old girl child on Wednesday night.

According to police sources, the superstitious couple killed the baby at the advice of a self proclaimed tantric to cure the illness of the wife named Mamta.

This gruesome incident happened in the Belda village of Bhopa area of the Muzaffarnagar district on Wednesday night. Finding the baby girl missing, the neighbours grew suspicious and informed the police.

During interrogation, Mamta and her husband, Gopal Kashyap confessed to have sacrificed their one-month-old daughter.

They hid the body of the dead child in the jungle near the village. Police are searching for the body. The tantrik, who motivated the couple for the gory act of human sacrifice of their child, has been identified as one Harendra. Efforts are on to nab him.
