UP Man Pours Hot Dal on Wife, Gives Triple Talaq As She Praised PM Modi, CM Adityanath

Lucknow: Police have registered a case against a man and seven members of his family for allegedly giving triple talaq to his wife as she praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

It is alleged that the accused had also beaten her and poured hot ‘dal’ on her. The victim named Maryam has lodged a complaint before police in Bahraich, where her parents live.

She also alleged that the family of her husband tried to strangle her on the day her husband pronounced triple talaq. Her husband’s family lives in Ayodhya.

Maryam was married to Aslam of Ayodhya on December 13, 2023. After marriage, when she saw the development of Ayodhya, she praised UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the holy city’s development in front of her husband.

Following this, Maryam’s husband, Arshad, got angry and sent her to her parent’s home in Bahraich. After some relatives intervened, she returned to Ayodhya to live with her husband. But Arshand hurled abuses at the UP CM and PM and gave her triple talaq.

Maryam alleged that her mother-in-law, younger sister-in-law and brothers-in-law tried to strangle her. Her husband also beat her on the day he pronounced triple talaq to her.

Based on her complaint, eight people were booked in the casefor assault, abuse, threat and Dowry Prohibition Act and Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act.
