Lengthy School Hours Shortened to 10 AM to 4 PM in Bihar

Patna: Responding to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s concern over lengthy school hours, the Bihar Education Department announced to shorten the school timings across the state.

From now on schools in Bihar will operate for six hours daily, from 10 am to 4 pm, stated a circular issued late Tuesday by the Director of Secondary Education.

On Tuesday Chief Minister Nitish Kumar assured the Bihar Assembly to initiate measures regarding the matter when opposition members entered the well of the House, protesting the “inhuman” timings of schools.

“The timings of schools for academic activities should be from 10 am to 4 pm only, it should not be from 9 am to 5 pm,” said Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, as reported by PTI.

Expressing prompt action, Kumar stated, “You (opposition members) should have told me earlier. Now the new timings will be from 10 am to 4 pm.”

The reduction in school hours is anticipated to promote a more balanced educational environment for students across Bihar.
