UGC Invites Authors To Write Undergraduate Textbooks in 12 Indian Languages

New Delhi: In a groundbreaking move to diversify India’s academic landscape, the University Grants Commission (UGC) is pioneering undergraduate courses in 12 Indian languages! This exciting initiative seeks qualified authors and faculty members from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to write original textbooks tailored specifically for these language streams.

The UGC, under the Ministry of Education, is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from passionate authors, critics, and HEI faculty members. Interested individuals can contribute their expertise to crafting high-quality textbooks in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

This initiative directly aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s vision of promoting Indian languages within education. It follows CBSE’s recent move to adopt NCERT books in 22 scheduled Indian languages, further expanding access to quality education for diverse student populations.

Aspiring textbook authors and faculty members with relevant expertise can express their interest through the online Google Form by January 30, 2024: https://forms.gle/cABbivfPB6hvfFhB9
