A. R. Rahman Hosts Soulful Hare Krishna Kirtan in Dubai Residence

Dubai: Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman recently embraced spirituality by hosting a Hare Krishna Kirtan at his Dubai residence. In a viral video, Rahman is seen alongside a large gathering, joyfully singing devotional songs dedicated to Lord Krishna.

The intimate event, seemingly held in Rahman’s living room, showcased the maestro’s deep devotion as he swayed to the melodious Bhajan tunes. The video captured the uplifting spirit of the Kirtan, attracting significant attention on social media.

This spiritual gathering comes on the heels of a recent controversy surrounding Rahman’s social media posts. During the devastating Cyclone Michaung, which caused widespread damage and claimed lives in Chennai and Andhra Pradesh, Rahman promoted the song ‘Main Parwaana’ from the movie ‘Pippa.’ This insensitive timing sparked backlash, with many criticizing the composer’s lack of empathy towards those affected by the natural disaster.

Rahman’s tweet promoting the song during the cyclone read, “Embrace the rhythm and let the vibrant beats of #MainParwaana guide your dance,” further fueling the controversy.

Despite the criticism, the Kirtan video reveals a different side of Rahman, highlighting his spiritual connection and artistic expression. This duality in his public persona continues to spark conversation and intrigue.
