Rajasthan BJP Legislative Party to Meet Tomorrow to Pick New CM

Jaipur: In the midst of uncertainty surrounding the appointment of the new chief minister for Rajasthan, the BJP Legislature Party (BJP-LP) will convene tomorrow in Jaipur. A three-member Central team, led by Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, will oversee the proceedings.

Eight contenders, including former chief minister Vasundhara Raje and railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, vie for the coveted position. The Central observers will meet with the 115 newly-elected MLAs to reach a consensus on the chief minister’s name. The decision will then be conveyed to the Parliamentary Board for official announcement or put to a voice vote.

Vasundhara Raje has exerted political pressure, meeting with over 30-40 MLAs at her residence since the party’s victory on December 3.

Ashwini Vaishnaw’s name gained momentum, despite his absence from PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Rajasthan rallies.

Preparations for the swearing-in have commenced within the party, aiming for a ceremony in Jaipur on December 13, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to attend. Notably, the swearing-in might occur before December 15, coinciding with the start of ‘Malamas’ in the Hindu calendar.
