Adipurush Row: Film Distributors Halt Screening Hindi Films Across Nepal

New Delhi: The screening of all Hindi movies has been banned across Nepal after it courted controversy over the birthplace of Sita.

Manoj Rathi, the sole distributor of the movie in Nepal, said the screening has been stalled across the country.

The latest development comes after Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah on June 15 instructed cinema halls in the Nepal capital not to screen the film until the makers correct the mistake of Sita’s birthplace.

On Sunday evening, the city police, under the orders of Mayor Balen, went to film halls and verbally instructed them to not screen the film.

Adipurush, which was released across India on Friday stars Prabhas as Raghav (Ram), Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Sita) and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Raavan).
