Barbie and Oppenheimer, two poles apart Hollywood blockbusters of 2023, topped the newly revamped Golden Globes nominations. These two blockbusters, collectively dubbed “Barbenheimer” as they were released on the same date
Barbie, a feminist satire, which is this year’s top-grossing film, got nine nominations, including best comedy as well as acting nominations for stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Barbie also received three best song nominations and a nomination for its writer-director Greta Gerwig.
Christopher Nolan’s critically acclaimed biopic Oppenheimer, about the inventor of the nuclear bomb, followed with eight nominations. Its nominations included best drama and Best director. Its actors Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr all received nominations for the Golden Globes.
Other movies that received nominations from Globes voters were Killers of the Flower Moon and Poor Things. Both these movies received seven nominations. The film Past Lives got five nominations.
