Rajinikanth’s Wife Granted Conditional Bail in ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ Forgery Case

Bengaluru: Latha Rajinikanth, wife of superstar Rajinikanth, has been granted conditional bail in connection with the forgery case related to the 2014 film ‘Kochadaiiyaan.’ She personally appeared before the Magistrate court on December 26, filing a discharge application as well. The court, setting a cash surety of Rs.25,000 and a personal bond of Rs.1 lakh, directed her not to tamper with evidence or influence witnesses.

Charged under IPC Sections 196, 199, 463, 420, and 34, Latha Rajinikanth’s discharge application faced objection from the complainant due to the non-bailable nature of Section 463. The court adjourned the hearing to January 6, 2024, as per the High Court’s directive on December 1.

Ad Bureau Advertising, a Chennai-based company, filed a private complaint against Latha Rajinikanth, alleging non-fulfillment of a guarantee executed on behalf of Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd. The guarantee was in favour of Ad Bureau Advertising, following financial transactions related to the movie starring Rajinikanth, directed by Latha Rajinikanth’s daughter.

Previously obtaining an injunction against 70 media houses to prevent the spread of misinformation about the financial transaction, Latha Rajinikanth saw the dismissal of the injunction suit in 2015. Subsequently, Ad Bureau Advertising filed a private complaint, asserting the use of false documents in the earlier injunction suit by Latha Rajinikanth.
