‘Love and War’ of Sanjay Leela Bhansali Based on ‘Sangam’ of 1964

Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming movie ‘Love and War’ is loosely based on the hit Hindi film Sangam of 1964.

Sangam starred Raj Kapoor, Vyjayanthimala and Rajendra Kumar. ‘Love and War’ has Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, in lead roles. Ranbir Kapoor will step into the shoes of his grandfather Raj Kapoor’s role in Sangam for this film.

Earlier, Dharma Productions was planning a remake of Sangam, but the project did not take off.

“Bhansali’s ‘Love & War’ is a love triangle, much like that of Sangam. But Bhansali’s movie inspired by the 1964 classic as the screenplay of ‘Love and War’ has been adapted to match recent times.

Shooting of the movie is most likely to begin in the second half of 2024. Sanjay Leela Bhansali will soon make his OTT series debut with ‘Heeramandi’.
