Nora Fatehi Speaks Out: Bollywood’s Casting Bias Towards the ‘Big Four’ Actresses

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi, known for her superhit dance numbers, has been making waves in the industry. While she continues to impress with her dancing skills, Nora is eager to explore new horizons in her acting career. Her debut in 2020 with ‘Street Dancer 3D’ marked the beginning of her journey as an actress.

In a recent exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Nora shared that convincing directors to cast her in diverse roles was challenging. She believes the hesitation wasn’t solely due to her dance background, as many iconic heroines in Bollywood have excelled in dance numbers. Instead, filmmakers were looking for someone willing to take a chance on her acting abilities and overall presence.

The film industry’s competition is intense, and Nora pointed out that only a few actresses are currently getting consistent work. Filmmakers tend to stick to familiar faces, making it essential for aspiring actresses like her to break into the rotation by proving their worth and versatility.

Despite the challenges, Nora is grateful for the opportunities coming her way. She has a series of exciting projects lined up, including a comedy with Excel Films, a family drama, and an extreme action sports film. Additionally, she will be starring in two Telugu films as one of the leads.

Nora acknowledges that things are changing in the industry, and she finally feels she is getting the recognition and opportunities she has long worked for. Her hard work, combined with notable roles in films like ‘Street Dancer’ and ‘Batla House,’ has allowed her to embody lead roles in various genres.
