Thalapathy Vijay’s “Leo” Sets New Record, Overtakes SRK’s “Pathaan” in UK Advance Bookings

Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming movie, “Leo,” directed by Lokesh Kangaraj, is generating tremendous buzz ahead of its October 19 release. Notably, the film has already made history with its unprecedented advance booking sales in international markets, surpassing the advance booking numbers for “Pathaan” on its first day in the UK.

Renowned trade analyst Taran Adarsh recently shared the exciting news on his Instagram account about “Leo’s” remarkable advance booking figures. He highlighted that Thalapathy Vijay’s “Leo” is setting new standards in the overseas market. An aggressive distribution strategy, particularly in the UK and Europe by Ahimsa Entertainment, has catapulted “Leo” into an all-time record-breaking position among Indian films, surpassing “Pathaan” in advance ticket sales for the first day.

Ahimsa Entertainment, the film’s UK distributor, provided a glimpse into what audiences can expect from “Leo.” They described the film as intensely raw and violent, featuring strong violence and gory scenes that exceeded expectations. The film was initially targeted for a 15+ rating but was ultimately given an 18+ rating by the BBFC, restricting it to viewers aged 18 and above.

*2min40s of graphic close-up shots of gory aftermaths will be trimmed. In cinemas, these changes will be unnoticeable and won’t affect the flow, core story, or mass moments. These shots make up less than 1% of the film's violence. Any additional change in runtime is from titles.

“Pathaan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, and Deepika Padukone, emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of its year, earning ₹1000 crore worldwide. “Leo” marks the reunion of Vijay and filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, following their 2021 blockbuster “Master.” It will also be released in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Sanjay Dutt makes his Tamil film debut with “Leo,” joining a star-studded cast that includes Trisha, Arjun Sarja, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, Mysskin, and Gautham Vasudev Menon. The music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, known for his work in Vijay’s previous hits like “Kaththi,” “Master,” and “Beast.”
