‘The Last of Us’ Actress Annie Wersching Dies Of Cancer At 45

Los Angeles: Actress Annie Wersching, known for her work on the television series 24, Bosch, and Timeless, passed away this morning from cancer. She was 45.

Even after being diagnosed in 2020, Wersching kept working, starring in The Rookie and Star Trek: Picard Season 2 as the Borg queen. She also provided Tess’ voice in the well-known computer game The Last Of Us, which HBO later turned into a TV show.

Wersching’s husband, actor Stephen Full, issued a statement. “There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn’t require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. ‘Go find it. It’s everywhere.’ And find it we shall.”

Wersching was born and raised in St. Louis by parents Sandy and Frank. Her first major role was as Amelia Joffe in General Hospital. She went on to star as Renee Walker in Seasons 7 and 8 of 24. Wersching also did major stints in The Vampire Diaries, Runaways, Extant, Timeless, Bosch and The Rookie.

Exactly 20 years after her acting debut in a Star Trek: Enterprise episode, she played one of her final parts in Season 2 of Star Trek: Picard.

The family is being supported by a GoFundMe campaign.
